The Health Quality Council is working with the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s Patient and Client Experience team alongside patient partners and other health system partners to collect data about patient’s care experiences with care and outcomes as a result of the care they received.
What is Patient-Reported Experience Measurement / Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement (PREMs/PROMs)?
As a part of the Patient-Reported Experience Measurement / Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement (also referred to as “PREMs” and “PROMs”), the team provides strategic direction and leadership to ensure that what matters to patients drives decision-making and how the health system is designed. The team helps to prioritize areas of focus and performance targets, setting standard system questions, and providing guidance and support to Networks and Clinics/Programs Levels. The Patient-Reported Experience Measurement / Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement work honours the voices of patients, families, and communities, focuses on patient inclusion embedded into organizational measurement, uses storytelling as a tool to focus health system work, and embeds planning structure from measurement to action.
How is the Health Quality Council contributing to this work?
The Health Quality Council is co-leading this initiative by co-developing a strategic plan, co-devising priorities and outcomes, and supporting health-related measurement framework design and knowledge translation products for planning, implementation, and evaluation of this patient-driven initiative.
