The University of Saskatchewan’s Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) has been a leader in COVID-19 research and development since the emergence of SARS-CoV-2. This includes being the first in Canada to isolate the virus, the first in Canada to develop an animal model, and the first Canadian university organization to have a vaccine in clinical trials.
