Ian Thomas
Indigenous Engagement Specialist
Ian is our Indigenous Engagement Specialist, using capacity building and quality improvement methodology to support strategic initiatives such as improving access to mental health and addictions services for children and youth within First Nations and Métis communities.
Since graduating from the University of Lethbridge with a degree in Indigenous Governance and Business Management, Ian has built an impressive track record in Indigenous service and advocacy. Before joining HQC, Ian was the Director of First Nations & Métis Relations with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, where he worked to advance relations and initiatives that benefit Indigenous communities. He also served on the Willow Cree Economic Development Board for seven years, contributed to the City of Saskatoon’s Indigenous Technical Advisory Group since its inception in 2019, and shared insights with the Indigenous Peoples Health Research Council through the First Nations University of Canada.
When he’s not championing health care improvement, Ian enjoys spending quality time with his family, exploring photography, traveling, and indulging in a good book. With a career spanning over 14 years, Ian’s diverse experience and steadfast dedication make him a key driver in accelerating improvement in health and health care throughout Saskatchewan.
