As we continue to grow, we are seeking a driven and experienced Improvement Lead to join our team.

Position Overview

The Improvement Lead plays a critical role in building capability and motivation for change using quality improvement methodologies to accelerate improvement in health and health care. As part of a growing team, you’ll have the opportunity to influence change with other jurisdictions to bring leading practices to Saskatchewan. 

Responsibilities

Quality Improvement and Program Design

  • In partnership with key stakeholders, apply skills in quality improvement, including measurement, collaboration, facilitation, and skill-building, to deliver the required outputs for achieving HQC’s priorities.
  • With a high degree of independence (i.e., without significant oversight from others), design and deliver programs to build capability in others (colleagues and external partners) to work and lead in quality improvement.
  • Facilitate adoption of best practice to address gaps in health and health care.
  • Initiate, plan, execute and manage a program or initiative to deliver high-quality work on schedule.
  • With a high degree of independence, produce, visualize and interpret data to support the measurement of quality improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration

  • Create or contribute to environments where stakeholders work together on shared outcomes to improve health and health care.
  • Use skills in stakeholder engagement and change management to coach individuals and teams in undertaking quality improvement initiatives supported by HQC.
  • With a high degree of independence (i.e., without significant oversight from others), build, maintain, and monitor relationships with multiple stakeholders to create meaningful connections that will support HQC to advance its priorities.
  • Facilitate groups to achieve consensus on defining goals, targets, and measures to advance quality improvement initiatives supported by HQC.

Skill-Building and Capacity Development

  • Develop skills in quality improvement with partners so they can confidently make change happen in their fields to improve health and health care.

Evidence and Knowledge Mobilization

  • Curate and assess evidence to mobilize knowledge into policy and practice to improve health and health care.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a health-related discipline, education, engineering, social sciences, business or public health administration or statistics and three years of work experience, preferably in a health environment or public sector, or;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline, education, engineering, social sciences, business or public health administration or statistics and five years of work experience, preferably in a health environment or public sector.
  • A combination of relevant work experience and education may be considered.
  • Employees must also provide and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training in quality improvement science, tools and methods (i.e.. Lean Leader Certification, Lean Improvement Leaders Training or other), instructional design, change management or coaching would be considered an asset.

Basic proficiency in quality improvement concepts and tools including:

  • The Model for Improvement, including facilitating and manage PDSA cycles
  • Theory of Profound Knowledge
  • LEAN methods and tools
  • Coaching
  • Facilitation
  • Facilitating large scale change
  • Learning Health System
  • Strategic planning
  • Instructional design
  • Measurement design and application to support quality improvement
  • Measurement visualization (run charts/statistical process control charts)
  • Data interpretation/knowledge translation
  • Project management.
