Dr. Gary Teare, executive director of measurement and analysis for the province’s Health Quality Council, has been appointed interim CEO by that agency’s board of directors. The announcement was made today by Dr. Susan Shaw, chair of the HQC.
Dr. Teare has been a director and member of HQC’s management team since January 2005. He is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology, and in the School of Public Health, University of Saskatchewan; Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto (Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation); and, Adjunct Faculty at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences in Toronto.
Dr. Shaw said the organization is fortunate to have someone with Teare’s experience and skillset at the helm during this period of transition. Bonnie Brossart, current CEO of the Council, is leaving to become Chief Executive Officer of the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA), effective January 5, 2015.
“Gary will help ensure stability while we search for a permanent CEO,” said Dr. Shaw. “He has an excellent understanding of immediate and medium-term priorities, both within HQC and across our provincial health care system.”
