Over the next few years, Saskatchewan is focusing on three key strategies to shorten ED waits and improve patient flow across the health care system: interdisciplinary rounding, alternate level of care, and transfers of care.
Operational leaders, managers, and point of care staff now have ready access to information about, and tools for applying, these strategies – in the form of a Patient Flow Toolkit. The resource package, which includes modules for each of the three strategies, was developed by the ED Waits and Patient Flow team in collaboration with provincial stakeholders.
The strategies are intended to make lasting improvements to patient flow, so that Saskatchewan patients receive the right care, in the right place, by the right teams across the continuum of care.
